Bob Johnston was born and raised in Sudbury and has been a lifelong resident of Ward 1.
Bob has great concern regarding city affairs and would like the privilege of representing the district in which he lives.
He is a well-known citizen who works hard for “the people” and donates much of his time to improve others lives.
Today Bob is a volunteer and the public relations spokesperson for The Bloor Door Soup Kitchen, kitchen coordinator for the Sudbury Food Bank and started programs for youth and disabled people to obtain first aid as well as food handlers certificates. He is known for the Salvation Army Cook Book and also teaches low-income families how to budget and learn how to make low-cost healthy meals.
Bob is the founder and president of Cruisin for Organ Donors & Rich, an organization that promotes awareness of Organ Donation and financial assistance to Organ recipients.
Bob is the lead ambassador for the TAP [Transplant Ambassador Program] at Health Sciences North in which he speaks to patients who require a transplant and explains in detail expectations and guidelines.
He is a member and participant of The Irish Heritage Club to assist in promoting Organ Donor Awareness.
Bob has lived with Diabetes most of his life and has endured many years of complications of this disease.
He has undergone countless operations, below knee limb amputation in 2013, and kidney transplant in 2015. Today Bob sais “ I have never felt better!”
Life has been difficult, but that is what makes Bob an approachable “down to earth” person. He has endured physical, emotional and financial circumstances regarding his health.
After “the transplant” Bob has been an avid citizen improving lives of others through issues he takes to heart. Bob has turned a drab area on Lorne Street into “Memory Park” which houses a memorial for Organ Donors. A flag blows in the wind stating, “Be a donor .ca”.
Bob Johnston has been a known community celebrity for his hard work for our city on “Under Cover Boss Canada” in which he sought new chairs and tables for our Soup Kitchen.
He always helps people in need and is unstoppable when it comes to what he believes in.
Bob Johnston believes in honesty, working for his fellow Citizens and lowering costs while our population is decreasing.
Bob is concerned regarding:
– property taxes – arena location – survival of local small businesses – wellness of our low income families/disabled – youth and life outcome – healthcare and safety of seniors
